“Boothbay Goes to War, 1861-1865,” illustrates the community’s participation in the Civil War effort and the effect on those who joined the Maine units. Researcher Mark Scott has updated the roster of participants, and the wartime activities of several area residents are highlighted.
Skilled researcher Devyn Campbell has assembled data from Maine’s Adjutant General’s Reports, printed during the war and including information on the soldiers, their companies, and regiments. Other items in the exhibit include uniforms and equipment, and personal diaries kept by soldiers during the war.
